Gu Ling met Fan Lingxiao when he rescued her from bandits. Afterwards, she joined Lingxiao Pavilion.

However, following the death of Sect Leader Fan, Lingxiao Pavilion fell into disarray. Out of the four remaining members, Gu Ling was chosen to take over as the head of the sect. She was determined to revive Lingxiao Pavilion to console the spirit of Sect Leader Fan.
